Before Elixir MRE became known for plant-based nutrition powders and whole-food supplementation, there was a cookie.
Not just any cookie.
A slow-baked, nutrient-dense, organic meal cookie created in Malibu for surfers, climbers, athletes, actors, and busy people who needed real nutrition they could carry anywhere.

And like most things born in Malibu, it started organically — with friendship, adventure, and the Pacific Ocean.
The Day the Name “MOOKIE” Was Born
Back in the early days in Malibu, legendary big wave surfer Michael Reardon and I were constantly training, climbing, surfing, and trying to stay fueled without eating processed junk food.
At the time, I had been experimenting with homemade nutrient-dense cookies packed with organic ingredients, hemp protein, ancient grains, medicinal herbs, and whole-food nutrition. They weren’t designed to be desserts. They were designed to function as portable fuel.
One afternoon on the rocks overlooking the ocean, Michael shouted down to me:
“Do you have any more of those homemade meal cookies?”
But over the sound of the surf and wind, all I really heard was:
“Mookie!”
And just like that, a name was born.

We began bringing MOOKIE into local gyms, surf communities, and wellness spaces around Malibu and Venice Beach.
Then came Gold’s Gym.
Soon MOOKIE became a staple inside Gold’s Gyms across Southern California and eventually throughout the country.
In many ways, MOOKIE became the “iPod moment” for Elixir MRE.
It introduced people to the brand.
It created recognition.
It opened the door for our larger nutritional product line to grow nationwide.
For many customers, MOOKIE was their first experience with Elixir MRE.
And for a lot of people, it’s still their favorite.
