Things to Know
Hemp seed contains all 20 known amino acids, including the 10 essential amino acids (EAA's) in a perfect, whole food form.  The raw hemp nut has simply been removed from its hard outer shell, leaving a plant version of fish protein, combining essential fatty acids with protein, as nature intended. This is the most digestible form of protein available anywhere - more digestible than meat, whole eggs, cheese, milk or any other high protein food. Hemp protein is also a better available protein spectrum than soy, providing a complete spectrum of undenatured natural proteins.

Hemp protein contains more Omega 3 EFA components than are found in fish and in most fish oil supplements. Hemp protein are one of the best balanced sources of Omega 3 and Omega 6 EFA's and because the oil component also contains only small amounts of saturated and mono-unsaturated fats which are easily converted to energy, and because they are also an unsurpassed source of the whole spectrum of required proteins, they promote vigorous cellular development and health.

Flaxseed

Flaxseed oil is a source of the sessential fatty acids approximately 50-60% of the omega-3, 18-20% of the omega-6 essential fatty acid. Omega fatty acids are a necessary component of cell walls and regulate the metabolism of cholesterol and triglycerides.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that is stored in the adrenal glands and many tissues throughout the body. We must depend on our diet as the source of this vitamin C. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that is easily absorbed from the small intestine.

Vitamin C is useful for the following: wound healing, diabetes, cholesterol lowering effects, osteoporosis, cervical dysplasia, allergies, asthma, atherosclerosis, and aids.

Bee Pollen

Pollen is a product collected from many species of plants by honeybee. Bee pollen is rich in vitamins, especially the B vitamins, and contains trace amounts of minerals, elements, amino acids and enzymes.Bee pollen is composed of approximately 55% carbohydrates, 35% protein, 3% minerals and vitamins, 2% fatty acids, and 5% other substances.
Bee pollen is readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.

Lecithin

Lecithin is helpful in maintaining the surface tension of the cell membranes. Insufficient lecithin, the cell wall may harden, and does not easily allow nutrients in or wastes out of the cell. This situation contributes to premature aging of the cells. Lecithin is well absorbed orally.

MSM/Glucosamine

MSM is a pain-reducing agent. It blocks the impulses in nerve fibers that carry pain signals.Glucosamine is an amino-sugar that is the foundation of many of the body's tissues. It can relieve pain in osteoarthritus and slow the progress of the disease. Glucosamine builds cartilage giving joints their elasticity, strength, and resilience.

Whey Proteins

Whey Protein Isolates assist in reducing the blood pressure of hypertensive individuals by inhibiting ACE (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme). Without ACE, the changes in the body that result in hypertension cannot occur. Research also continues in this area. Whey Proteins have recently been shown to have potential positive impact in other areas including appetite suppression, cholesterol reduction, and the inhibition of dental plaque and dental caries.

Nutrition for the Athlete
Whey proteins are one of the best known sources of branched-chain amino acids. These are important to athletes as they are metabolized directly into muscle tissue unlike other amino acids that are metabolized into the liver. Various forms of exercise increase the body's need for branched-chain amino acids and whey proteins can help meet that need.
Whey proteins have long been used by athletes following strenuous activity to help the body repair and rebuild muscle tissue. Individuals engaging in regular, strenuous exercise need more protein than those with a less active life-style and whey proteins are often the proteins of choice.

Whey proteins are also an ideal protein choice in situations where individuals are facing specific medical challenges. These situations include:

HulledMillet

Hulled Millet has gained in popularity over the last decade because it has a good nutritional profile—it is rich in amino acids, phosphorus, and B vitamins and high in protein. Very easy to digest, this healing grain is highly alkaline and can help an acidic system become alkaline (Acid conditions have been linked to diseases as common as the flu and as chronic as arthritis).

Barely Grass

Barley grass is one of the best sources of nutrients for the body’s needs. It assists in growth, tissue repair and well-being. Some experts call it the closest thing on this planet to the perfect food. The use of barley as food and medicine dates back thousands of years. Barley grass is high in chlorophyll, flavonoids, beta carotene, enzymes, all the essential amino acids, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, copper, manganese, zinc, vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, C, E, folic acid, and pantothenic acid. Barley also contains glucan; a fiber found in oat bran and reported to reduce cholesterol levels. Green barley juice contains 11 times the calcium in cows' milk, nearly 5 times the iron in spinach and 7 times the vitamin C in oranges.

Barley grass is used for the following: stomach, duodenal, and colon disorders. Lowers blood cholesterol levels, reduces the risk of cancer, and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Barley grass is very high in organic sodium. People who have a tendency towards dehydration need more organic sodium. Organic sodium keeps calcium in solution in the bloodstream and also dissolves calcium deposited on the joints. It also replenishes organic sodium in the lining of the stomach. This aids digestion by improving the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach.

Besides chlorophyll and a myriad of vitamins, minerals and enzymes, barley grass is said to have (1):

*    30 times as much vitamin B1 as in milk
*    3.3 times as much vitamin C
*    6.5 times as much carotene as in spinach
*    11 times the amount of calcium in cow's milk
*    nearly five times the iron content of spinach
*    nearly seven times the vitamin C in oranges
*    four times the vitamin B1 in whole wheat flour
*    80 micrograms of vitamin B12 per 100 grams of dried barley plant juice.

Alfalfa

Alfalfa is one of the most nutritious plants on earth. Its leaves are rich in calcium, magnesium, potassium, beta-carotene, vitamins A, B-12, C, D, E, K, and also contain all eight essential amino acids. Alfalfa is one of the earliest cultivated plants, used for centuries for feeding livestock. It is one of the best sources of insoluble fiber and is used as an active ingredient in many fiber supplements. The Chinese have used alfalfa since the sixth century to treat kidney stones, and to relieve fluid retention and swelling.

Alfalfa is used for the following: constipation, urinary tract infections, bad breath, relief from bloating and water retention, reduces swelling, detoxifies the body, aids in healing allergies, and helps increase appetite.

Spirulina

Spirulina is an algae containing 65 - 70% protein. It contains iron, phosphorous, niacin, vitamin B12 and 26 times the calcium found in milk. It is used as a blood and colon cleanser, for rejuvenation and weight reduction.

Spirulina is used for the following: reduceing appetite, promoting weight loss, detoxifieing the blood and colon, supporting the immune system, cancer prevention, and effective in the treatment of allergies.

Because it contains the most remarkable concentration of nutrients known in any food, plant, grain or herb. Its the highest protein food- over 60% all digestible vegetable protein. It has the highest concentration of beta carotene, vitamin B-12, iron and trace minerals and the rare essential fatty acid GLA. These make spirulina a great whole food alternative to isolated vitamin and minerals.

Spirulina is the richest Beta Carotene food, with a full spectrum of ten mixed carotenoids. About half are orange carotenes: alpha, beta and gamma and half are yellow xanthophylls. They work synergistically at different sites in our body to enhance antioxidant protection.

A food source of GLA is important, especially for women.

Pregnant women can use spirulina's vegetable protein and bioavailable iron. In India and Vietnam, doctors prescribe spirulina for pregnant and nursing mothers and their infants.

Spirulina is an ideal anti-aging food: concentrated nutrient value, easily digested and loaded with antioxidants. Beta Carotene is good for healthy eyes and vision. This all vegetable, low fat protein means we can lighten up on a meat centered diet that can aggravate arthritis and raise cholesterol

Quinoa

Nutritionally, quinoa might be considered a super grain--although it is not really a grain, but the seed of a leafy plant that's distantly related to spinach. Quinoa has excellent reserves of protein, and unlike other grains, is not missing the amino aicd lysine, so the protein is more complete (a trait it shares with other "non-true" grains such as buckwheat and amaranth). The World Health Organization has rated the quality of protein in quinoa at least equivalent to that in milk. Quinoa offers more iron than other grains and contains high levels of potassium and riboflavin, as well as other B vitamins: B6, niacin, and thiamine. It is also a good source of magnesium, zinc, copper, and manganese, and has some foliate (folic acid).

Brown Rice

Brown rice has an impressive variety of vitamins and minerals, including niacin, vitamin B6, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium, and even some vitamin E. Brown rice contains a small amount of protein, and has a high level of the amino acid lysine.

Amaranth

Amaranth has been touted as a miracle grain, a super grain, and the grain of the future: A dietary staple of the Aztec empire, this ancient crop was "lost" for hundreds of years, and only since the Sixties, following its rediscovery, has it been grown in the U.S.

Amaranth, which has a pronounced earthy sweetness, is not a true grain, which is a nutritional plus: Unlike wheat or barley, amaranth is not deficient in the essential amino acid lysine. These tiny seeds of a weed like plant are also a very rich source of iron, and supply copper and magnesium. And amaranth is well supplied with dietary fiber.

Spirulina & Kelp

For thousands of years, traditional healers in China and other parts of the world have looked to the water for healing remedies. Spirulina and kelp were two key finds.

Spirulina is a small, single-celled microorganism that's rich in chlorophyll, a plant pigment that gives so many lakes and ponds their dark blue-green color. Kelp, in contrast, is a brown algae that grows only in the sea. The name refers to any of the numerous long-stemmed seaweeds that belong to the order Laminariales or Fucales.

Health Benefits
Both spirulina and kelp have been touted as miracle cures, capable of melting away arthritis pain, increasing energy, boosting immunity, improving liver function, warding off heart disease and cancer, suppressing AIDS, controlling appetite, and guarding against cell damage from exposure to X rays or heavy metals.

General Interaction
Large doses of kelp could provide excessive iodine and interfere with the effectiveness of certain thyroid medications.

Things to Know
Both spirulina and kelp can cause nausea and diarrhea in some cases. If this occurs, reduce the dose or stop taking the supplement.

Slippery Elm

A strengthening, soothing demulcent herb, ideal for sore, inflamed, ulcerated mucous membranes and wasting disease.

Slipery elsm is used as a key part of combinations for stomach, bowel and colon sores, ulcers and inflammation: as a specific for stomach and lung cancer lesions; as a throat coat and demulcent expectorant for dry sore throats and coughs; as the soothing part of a formula for indigestion and gastritis; a soothing astringent for diarrhea; secondary uses as a poultice or compress for bed sores, gangrene and abscesses; as part of an arthritis or gout formula; as a tea to settle the stomach from nausea.

Slippery elm is useful in treating digestive conditions with inflamed mucous membrane linings such as gastritis, gastric or duodenal ulcer, enteritis, and colitis, where it has a soothing demulcent action.

GreenKamut

Green Kamut is an Organic Food. It is a vital source of Phytochemical Elements. Kamut is generally regarded as a grain that is the purest, and therefore, least allergy-inducing wheat on the market. Kamut is a strain of wheat that was brought to the United States as a non-hybrid seed. It has remained non-hybrid, which is the reason for its exceptionally high nutritional value. The deep green leaf of the Kamut is possibly the purist source of nutrient-rich food on the planet precisely because it is 100% organic and has never been crossbred. It's origin lies in the Nile-rich region of Egypt, known as the cradle of civilization.

GreenKamut is used for the following: Assisting in the body's essential life, contributing to cell and tissue growth, and stimulating the body's natural cleansing and detoxification.

Green Kamut is a potent source of anti-oxidants, alkaline, lightweight protein, chlorophyll, essential fatty acids, trace minerals, friendly bacteria, and key enzymes. Green Kamut causes a series of chemical reactions in the body that cleanse, detoxify, rebuild, and fortify at the cellular level. It helps boost the immune system, increase energy levels, combat fatigue, and most importantly-adds alkalinity to today's highly stressed, over-acidic body systems.

WhiteWillowBark

White Willow Bark contains salicin, which the body converts to salicylic acid and has the same effect on the body as aspirin without any of the side effects. In fact, White Willow Bark was the basis for the synthesis of aspirin. History of usage of White Willow Bark goes back as far as 500 BC when ancient Chinese healers began using it to control pain. Native Americans also discovered the value of the Willow tree for relieving pain from headaches and rheumatism and reducing fevers.

The benefits of White Willow Bark today are that it is an anti-inflammatory, a fever reducer, an analgesic, an anti-rheumatic, and an astringent. Specifically, it helps to relieve headaches; helps to ease pain associated with inflammatory conditions like rheumatism, arthritis, and carpal tunnel syndrome; and helps to control fevers. Studies have shown that if you feel better, you are more likely to want to stick to your weight loss plan and because of that, White Willow Bark can aid in your diet goals.

Korean White Root

Ginseng is one of the most popular healing herbs used today throughout the world. In the Ginseng family there are American, Korean, Chinese and Siberian ginsengs. A Chinese text dating from the First Century A.D. describes ginseng as “enlightening to the mind and increasing the wisdom.” Today, Ginseng is believed to enhance physical and mental endurance, increase energy, reduce cholesterol, support adrenal function, reduce stress, and regulate blood sugar.

Korean white root is used for the following: treating menopausal symptoms, treating diabetes, dealing with stressful situations, possesses anticancer properties, used as a sleep aid, improving memory, boosting immune function, and may reduce the risk of heart disease.

The ginseng plant requires 5-7 years to mature from seed. Ginseng has a sweetly aromatic flavor. Its root has long been regarded by the Chinese as a panacea for illness, though it was usually used by them in a prophylactic (preventive) rather than a curative manner.

Chlorella

China Chlorella is a green, single-cell, fresh-water Micro-Algae. Chlorella is a whole food that is high in chlorophyll, proteins, enzymes, minerals, beta-carotene, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids. Chlorell has Vitamin C and E, Folic Acid, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, Calcium and Copper.

Chlorella is used for the following: regulating cholesterol levels, stimulating anti-viral activity, improving bowel function, enhancing immune function and anti-tumor activity, and repairing DNA.

China Chlorella is a green, single-cell, fresh-water Micro-Algae which has been at the base of the planetary food chain for over 2.5 billion years. The nutritional value of China Chlorella sets it apart from all other foods. It contains 60% protein, 19 amino acids including all the essential ones plus at least 12 important vitamins and 11 minerals.

Acerola Berry Extract

The Barbados Cherry tree grows up to 10 feet in height and produces a bright red, very juicy fruit. It is very rich in vitamin C; one single berry has 1500 to 4600 milligram vitamin C. It is the major source of commercial vitamin C. Vitamin C is perhaps the most popular vitamin among the common nutrients and biochemicals. Because the vitamin is water-soluble, it must be regularly replenished. Our Acerola Berry Extract Powder is 25% Vitamin C. Acerola is also rich in vitamin A, iron and calcium.

Acerola berry extract is used for the following: Anti-oxidant and free radical scavenger and an antiviral agent.

The primary function of vitamin C is to assist in the production of collagen, although it is rapidly becoming identified as a key player in detoxifying the body from foreign substances.

Stevia

Stevia is also known as Sweetleaf or Candyleaf. Stevia is a safe, all-natural alternative to artificial sweeteners and refined sugar in the diet. It has neither calories nor carbohydrates, is suitable for diabetics, doesn't cause tooth decay, and has been shown to reduce hypertension.

Stevia is about 300 times sweeter than sugar in its natural state, and much more so when processed.

Stevia is used for the following: normalization of blood sugar and insulin in diabetics, treatment of candida, preventing hypertension, prevention of tooth decay, antiviral agent, and treatment of skin disorders.

Stevia has been used for many years in the treatment of diabetes among Indians in Paraguay and Brazil. However, the mechanism for the blood glucose-lowering effect remains unknown. A study conducted at Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark found that stevioside enhances insulin secretion from mouse pancreatic islets in the presence of glucose. The researchers state, 'Stevioside stimulates insulin secretion via a direct action on pancreatic beta cells. The results indicate that the compounds may have a potential role as an anti-hypoglycemic agent in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus.'

Dulse Leaf

Dulse is a red seaweed that grows on the intertidal rocks, which are uncovered at low tide. It can be found on the Atlantic coasts of Scotland and Ireland, Greenland, northern France and the Saint-Laurence estuary. It is an ancient cattle feed and famine food.

Shaped like the palm of a hand, it has the texture of thin rubber. It is commonly dried and eaten raw by North Atlantic fishermen; the flavor becomes evident after prolonged chewing.

Dulse is a rich source of calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, iodine, manganese, copper, chromium, zinc, and vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C and E.

WheatGrass

Triticum aestivum is wheat, wheat grass, a highly concentrated vegetable that contains calcium, phosphorous, iron, magnesium, potassium, and all 8 essential amino acids. One ounce of wheat grass juice is equivalent in nutrients to 2 lbs. of vegetables and has less than 11 calories.

It is a complete food and one of the richest natural sources of vitamin A and C, and exceptionally rich in B vitamins. Wheat grass contains the best form of chlorophyll. It is 70% chlorophyll. Wheat grass is considered by many to be one of the most cleansing foods.

Parsley Leaf

Medicinally, the two-year-old roots are employed, also the leaves, dried, for making Parsley Tea, and the seeds, for the extraction of an oil called Apiol, which is of considerable curative value.

The 1997 Commission E on Phytotherapy and Herbal Substances of the German Federal Institute for Drugs recommends Parsley, consisting of the fresh or dried plant [and] Parsley root, consisting of the dried root' for 'flushing out the efferent urinary tract in disorders of the same and in prevention and treatment of kidney gravel.'

RosemaryLeaf

Rosemary’s traditional role in herbal medicine is confirmed by modern research. Eucalyptol (cineole) is a potent antibacterial that relaxes the lung's smooth muscles. Carnosol inhibits cancer formation. Rosmarinic acid is only one of Rosemary's many proven antioxidants.

'Antioxidant' also helps to explain Rosemary's traditional use for headache and depression. Rosemary's memory enhancing properties have long been appreciated. The neurotransmitter acetylcholine, an important element of memory, seems to be protected from breakdown by Rosemary.

The 1997 Commission E on Phytotherapy and Herbal Substances of the German Federal Institute for Drugs recommends Rosemary leaf for 'Internal: Dyspeptic complaints. External: Supportive therapy for rheumatic diseases, circulatory problems.'

Oregon Grape Root

Oregon grape root is helpful with systemic skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. Grape Root ointment has been clinically shown to be very helpful with psoriasis. Native Americans have long used a decoction made from the root to treat many other health problems. Oregon Grape has a proven strong bactericidal effect. Alkaloids, including berbamine, canadine, hydrastine, and the most famous, berberine, one of the active principles in Goldenseal, account for the beneficial activity of Oregon grape root. Berberine is effective against intestinal bacteria, hence helpful with diarrhea and other bacteria-caused digestive, throat and urinary-tract problems. Oregon grape root seems to stimulate the liver and gall-bladder to normal function.

Oregon grape root is used for the following: scaly skin diseases and in disorders of a non-inflammatory type, eczema genitalis, acne, scald head, psoriasis, pityriasis, and dandruff.
